Ronald M. DePauw is a retired wheat breeder from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. For the past 14 years, 40 to 55 percent of all of the wheat grown in Canada derived from cultivars that he and his team developed. He was elected to the Order of Canada in 2003. Ron has served as mentor to many female researchers, including three Women in Triticum Early Career Awardees, Arti Singh (2013), Samia Berraies (2013), and Silvia Barcellos Rosa (2011). Dr. Berraies said, “His progressive and encouraging attitude greatly influenced the trajectory of my research and reminded me of the true reason behind it.”
