Derevnina completed her PhD at the University of Sydney, Plant Breeding Institute, under the supervision of Prof. Robert Park. She is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California Davis working in the Michelmore Lab. The aim of her research is to improve the current understanding of the genetics of rust resistance in barley.
